The Houston Texans joined the NFL only five years ago as an expansion team, and are now considered the team with the most potential in the NFL. Coach Gary Kubiak lead the Texans to win six games in 2006, which is four more than in 2003. The Texans have benefited from each of their seven 2007 draft picks, including the greatly anticipated Amobi Okoye. At age 19, Okoye is the youngest player ever drafted into the NFL. He has had plenty of experience after playing for Louisville for four years. Okoye has a record of 58 tackles and 8 sacks for his last year will Louisville. He is expected to lead the Texans to an improved defense this season.

According to owner Bob McNair, The Texans are looking to create a more consistent team for 2007. Quarterback, David Carr, has been released, and signed with the Carolina Panthers. Leading rusher Domanick Williams has been released due to a lingering knee injury.

New additions to the Texans appear very promising. The second round pick, linebacker DeMeco Ryans, is the NFL Defensive Rookie of the Year. The Texans made a great choice with Jacoby Jones of Lane college who has been a star player in the SIAC Division II. The Texans have also recruited Former Boise state quarterback Jared Zabransky, who is known for leading his team to a close win against Oklahoma in the Fiesta Bowl. A second new quarterback is Matt Schaub from Atlanta.
